Moody...

Hari ini
Kepala pusing
Tak tahu kenapa
Aku jadi pening

Pagi ni
Semua okay
Siap berbalas
Mesej lagi
Dengan member
Gelak-gelak
Penuh dengan teaser

Masuk office
Masih senyum
Masih mengusik
Anak buah ku
Ahh… inikan hari Jumaat
Relax lah sikit

Dengan senyum
Buka email
Senyum lagi
Dapat mesej
Dari seseorang

Tiba-tiba
Nafas ku sesak
Senang-senang
Suruh ku buat.

Heh!
Bila masa
Jadi kerja ku
Pandai betul kau kan
Taici kerja mu

Hah… ini lah dia
Dunia koperat
Atau dunia keparat
Asyik kerja
Mengampu orang
Asalkan
Dirinya senang

Tapi
Bukannya aku
Untuk jadi
Kaki mengampu

Kerana bengang
Otak ku
Terus shutdown
Tak mahu berfikir lagi
Lalu
Ku tinggalkan kerja ku…

Biarlah aku
Melayan mood ku
Ahh... inikan hari Jumaat...
Relax lah

Run! Hide! The vampire is here!

It was another crazy day at the office today, but everything was under control. Heh! As long as Mr. Han didn’t disturb me, I would be fine. I would only go crazy, if Mr. Han kept circling behind me or dragging me to his lair. Either I exploded, or I got drowned.

I left office quite late today, almost 8pm. There was something that due tomorrow, and since I will be on leave for the next two days, I have to submit it by today. I was happy to submit it at 5pm today, thinking that I got one out of my way, but then, I received an email that said I used the wrong template. Damn! I have to copy the information to the new template. Hah! The only different between the new and old was the header. Gggrrrrhhhhh!!!!!

I have few reports that need to be submitted by 15th July. I don’t know why everybody wanted it by 15th. On top of that, Mr. Han demanded me to get some information for him. Eeeeee! Why can’t he be resourceful and get the information himself? I really hope that he wakes up one day, and realized what he has done to the us here.
He sucked us dry, until some of us need the extra juice to get us going. But looking around me, most of us are already dried and wilted, and about to collapse.

But this morning, everybody was happy because Mr. Han was away. We thought that he would be away the whole day, but after lunch, we saw him sitting on his throne.

“Ahhhh!!! There goes my day,” said someone.
But he was only at his place for a short while only. He had to go and sucked up to the Master.
“Phew! We have 3 hours of freedom from the vampire,” said another one.

After he comes back, everybody was busy again. Busy trying to avoid Mr. Han, but for me, I have no choice. Like it or not, when Mr. Han called, I have to go. He would like for me to run and bow to him and answered him, “Yes, sir. What can I do, sir? Okay, sir.”, but what he got was, “Wait ahh, I need to finish this first,” or I walked slowly to his throne.

Ahhhhh! Mr. Han, FYI, I would not think about work for the next two days. I have better things to do.

Bad Monday!

What a day today! I have more bad things happened to me today than good things, and I hope it is not a precedence for this week.

It started early in the morning after my morning prayer. I was about to sit at my study table when the chair moved, and what else, bedebum la….. I fell, and I was lucky that my head didn’t hit the floor.

I was stunned and didn’t move for about five minutes. I felt shooting pain on my right leg also on my arm, but it didn’t last long. I got up and walked slowly down to the kitchen. I didn’t feel any pain then, but when I was caught in the massive jam, I felt slight pain in my back.

Oh ye, talking about the massive jam this morning it took me two and the half- hour to reach office. I could have reach Johor if I go down south.

The jam started from the Serdang R&R. It was all due to the closure of SMART Tunnel. It seems like SMART Tunnel has become very important to all who comes from South heading toward city center.

While caught in the jam, I was glad that I checked twitter on the alternative route to KL. Based on the update, I took Maju Expressway to KL. It just took me seven minutes to get into East West Link. No traffic jam there. Yeay! Thanks to twitter, else it will take me three hours to reach office.

Eventhough, I was stuck in the jam, I was happy because someone called last Friday to inform me that he is sending my laptop back today. I was expecting a call from them in the morning, but when they didn’t call me, I politely SMS their boss, and five minutes later, the support engineer called and said he will give me a loaner laptop.

“What happened to my laptop?” I asked because I don’t want any loaner laptop. In fact, while my laptop was in the repair center, I had Chee Leong’s laptop with me.

The guy can’t answer, and I insisted that I talked to the boss. He understood why I needed my laptop, and he promised me that I would get my laptop in the evening.

At 3pm, the tech support brought my laptop. Yup physically it was the same, but when I switched it on, everything changed. The disk was set to the standard configuration and software. I feel sad. My familiar setting was gone, and what in front of me was a brand new thing.

It took me until 7pm to install my iTunes and some of my files, but somehow something is still missing. Maybe, I used to scattered my files on the screen, whereas this one looks very empty. Hmmm…maybe tomorrow I will mess it up, and try to bring the missing piece back to my laptop.

Wish me luck. Salam.

I got it!

It was a tough day today. There are too many new things to learn, and when the boss demanded everything to be given there and then, it made the work tougher. But I survived. This situation won’t be long, and it will be over soon once I get the grip of it.

Since I was tired, I have no idea what to blog tonight
. On top of that, my kids need me to help them with their homework and revision. The midyear exam is coming soon, and if I don’t sit with them, no one will not study. I don’t mind actually because this is the time they will share with me what they did at school.

By the time I went to my room, it was almost 11pm, and I was really tired. But when I entered my room, I saw a stacked of letter on the study table.

“What’s that?” I asked my hubby.
“Just some letters that I took from Saujana,” he said.

As I was going through the letter, I saw one particular letter that I have been waiting for since March this year.

“Dear, I got it!” I said excitedly while reading the letter, “and I need to reply this soon.”
“Oh! Okay, calm down. Tell me what you get,” he said.

I told him, but he didn’t seem to share my excitement. This is one of a lifetime offer, and I really need to grab it. Otherwise, I would not get the chance again.

I put the letter away, and started to plan what I need to do. My husband didn’t say anything. He just listened, but I know, his brain is wrecking some plan on how he can get the offer too.

Oh yeah! I can’t share with you yet, but when the time is right, I will let you know. Now, I’m too excited to go to bed. What should I do? Read the letter again? Hahaha…why not?

It was fun!

Oh! What a fun day I have today, but in the morning, it didn’t go well. A motorcyclist ran into my car, and he sped away knowing that it was his fault. I was shocked and didn’t check my car. I was more concerned about him, but the moment he sped off, I knew he was okay.

After that episode, the day went very well. I reached Bukit Kiara, 30 minutes before the event started. When I stepped into the function room, I smelled nasi lemak and the sambal sotong. Apalagi, Bismillah lah. It was good.

The communication session in the morning was good too. My big boss was in a relaxed mood today, and she cracked few jokes during her presentation. I never seen her like this before. Maybe, she has less pressure now as she will be leaving us soon.

After the communication session, we took three hours break for lunch and Friday’s prayer. Lunch was great. We have Tom Yam Soup, Kerabu Mangga (Mango Salad), Fried Mee Siam, Thai Pineapple Fried Rice, local kuih and fruits. My new boss from UK loves it very much, but I didn’t really enjoy my lunch. I was stuck between my new and old bosses. Tell me if anyone of you can enjoy your lunch when you are stuck with your bosses.

Oh yea, while waiting for the afternoon session to start, we received our department t-shirt. The t-shirt color is dark blue and green colors. We wore that for our bowling session. There were eight teams, and my teams were team #8, and we were the only team that has five people in there. The rest of the team were made of 4 people only.

All teams played two games, and my team won a prize. A consolation prize for not being the best team or having most strikes, but as a champion from the bottom. Yup! My team has the lowest scores. What can I say when some of the team members never played before. By the way, I injured myself in the second game. I injured my thumb, my back and my leg, but I’m happy I won the consolation prize.

The event ended at 6pm, and everybody took a break before dinner. The theme for the dinner was red or shade of red. Hmmm….I was lucky as my friend loaned me her red tudung.

We also invited our friends who has left the company. At 7.30pm, the party started, and our big boss gave her short opening speech. It was then followed by our cute, youngest and freshest little brother singing “Perpisahan” for CFO.

The cute guy was our company MXS GOT TALENT champion. His voice was superb, and he sat at the same table with me. Ahhhh…we got to interviewed him. He just graduated from France and joined the company six months ago. He joined our department two weeks ago. Welcome Syafiq to ISD.

After Syafiq sing, dinner was served. I have no regret with my beef sirloin, but for those who chose chickens and fishes, both were not very nice. After dinner, it was a time for us to sing to CFO. I led the group, and we sang Without You and Let It Be.

After our song, that’s where the fun start. It was karaoke time. Almost everyone has to sing including the guest of honour. There were so many hidden talents in ISD. Ahhhh…maybe all this while, we were so busy with our works that we didn’t get to go out and enjoy ourselves. The party became alive when Faizad and CL sang “Fantasia Bulan Madu” and “Rozana”. Both were rock songs.

The party ended when the CFO has to leave. We sang Auld Lang Syne to her as our final song. We sent her off at the lobby, and she drove away in her red Ferrari.

Sekian...Salam

No Practice!

Yesterday, I blogged about how I was searching for the right song for the upcoming farewell dinner on Friday. Yeah, the search continues until 5pm today After going through few songs, the group finally decided to sing "Without You" by Air Supply and "Let It Be" by The Beatles.

I’m not sure how its going to turn out because we didn’t really get to practice. Everyone was kind of busy. But there are few “karaoke” singers who can really sing, so let them be the lead singer. I'm going to be just one of the backup singer. I will blog about the dinner later.

By the way, tomorrow’s session will be a whole day event. From 9am till 5pm, it will be for communication session and team building, and it will be followed up by dinner at 6.30 until 11pm.

That’s a long meeting. I’m not worried about that because we will get a break here and there, but what worry me most is getting to the venue. Getting to Bukit Kiara before 9am will be challenging because of the traffic jam. Furthermore, I'm not familiar with the route to get there. Guess, I need to leave home by 7am, if I don’t want to be late for the communication session.

Looking at the agenda, there will be bowling session too. Last time I play was with my kids, and there was gutter rail to keep the ball in the lane. Heh! This time, I guess, most of the time it will land in the gutter. Anyway, let's see whether I can play tomorrow as my back still in pain. If I do, I hope I can still get some decent points.

Oh yea, just to update you on my office laptop which when into frozen mode last night. It is still in ICU.  The engineer told me that he need more time to fix and test the hard disk. Meanwhile, I will be twiddling my thumb while waiting for my baby to recover. But for today, my hubby was kind enough to let me used his laptop to office.

Okay. I gotta go now. I’m tired and sleepy. Sekian. Salam.

New Boss, Old Boss and A Song

Aaahhhh…. My new boss is in. Finally, after more than two years without a proper head guiding the team, he is finally in. Yeay! I heard few positive things about him already. Good looking, soft spoken, nice and bla..bla..bla… Well at least he made a positive impression but not sure how long he is going to be here. The last time they brought somebody in, the guy left after two days.

So now I have two bosses. It feels like having two husbands, where you have to entertain them, and get things done whenever they wanted. Since the new boss is still new, it is just like new husband where he has lots of new things to learn. So he only sat at his place, and read all documents and gauging the office environment. So far, he hasn’t asked anything from me yet, and I also avoided asking him anything.

Normally my old boss will speak in English to me, but today he spoke to me in Malay. Maybe he didn’t want the newcomer to know what we talked about since the new boss doesn’t understand our language. I found it funny, but it’s good for him. At least he will improve his Malay.

As I was busy printing the document for my new boss, my department secretary approached me and asked me whether I can find any good English song for the CFO farewell party.

Hmmm.. I have lots of English song but most of them are rock songs, country and blues, and oldies. It really makes me think what kind of music will be appropriate for the event.

I started searching and looking at my collection. Hah! I thought Boney M will be a good choice but then none of the songs suit the occasion. From Boney M, I went through Celien Dion’s song, and then to Black Eye Pea, but the one I like most is, I’ll be missing you by Puff Daddy. But the lyric doesn’t suit the whole occasion.

Hmm…I am still searching, and I need to get everything ready by tomorrow because the party will be on Friday night. I wonder whether we will butcher the song with only 3 days of practice. Let’s see the magic of ISD.

Sekian. Salam.

When Prince Charming said Good Bye

Today we have lunch at Kelantan’s Delight. It’s a farewell lunch for our popular, charming, helpful Chee Leong. Yup! He decided to abandon us, and fly to Sydney to further his study, leaving us in the pressure cooker.

Chee Leong is considered as one of a newbie in our Division. He joined us in 2009 after the outsourcing. He was selected among many, to manage our department's finance related matter.

I first saw him in 2007 when I attended his presentation on TIC submission. I was impressed by him. Not only by his presentation skill but also by his looks. After
that session, I totally forgot about him, until in 2009 when one of the bosses told me that TCL will be joining our department.

I didn’t know that TCL was the same guy that I saw in 2007. When he joined us for the training session in 2009, he sat quietly at the back. Yeah he was gauging us from the back, and plotting how to win us.

Three months later, he strutted to the office with his laptop and sat in the workstation in front of me. Did I give him a big, warm welcome? I don’t think so, but I did remembered saying, “Welcome and you are my life savior.”

For three months after the outsourcing, I suffered. I had three tough months understanding all the financial reports. The moment he came in, I happily dumped it to him, and I had not looked at it again until three days ago, when I was told to assume his role temporary until they find another person to do this. It is giving me nightmare thinking about all those figures.

Well, Chee Leong has managed to win us all. He was so helpful, friendly, charming and gentleman. There were times he waited for us, the ladies, and walked together to the parking.

Hah! We are going to miss our Prince Charming. No more good looking guy sitting in front of me, and one thing for sure when all the numbers don’t make sense to me, I will desperately wish that he is back with us.

CL, as you are making your exit today there will be another person joining us on Monday. Yeah! I think I’m going to have a hard time with this one because he is from England. Do you know what will be the problem? His British slang. No more Manglish in the office!

To Chee Leong, I wish you all the best.

Salam.

Not a good day!

I did not have a good day today. Not that I have a problem at work just that it is one of the day where you just do not have the zest to do thing. Maybe the day itself started on the wrong note.

I was caught in a jam for 1.5 hours in traffic jam this morning. I left home early because my calendar showed that I have a 9a.m. meeting but when I reached office, I was told it has been rescheduled to 10am.

Duh! Why don’t someone SMS and informed that the meeting was rescheduled? I did not get upset but it made me wondered why let people went through the jam when we have a means and technology to communicate this changes?

I was tired the whole morning. Maybe, it was from the rush and jam in the morning. While having my lunch, I received SMS from my sister. She updated us on the result from mom’s visit to her doctor. It confirmed that mom will be having her mastectomy this coming Saturday. Doctor said that by doing total removal of her left breast, she will not have to go through chemotherapy. My mom is already decided earlier to go through this and get it over The only thing left is for us to pray hard so that no other complication will happen to her.

And to add further to my bad day, my right leg is giving problem. I have been in pain since morning and I aggravated it this morning when I rushed to office. If the pain doesn’t go away tomorrow morning, I will pay a visit to my doctor.

That’s generally summed up my lousy day today. OK..salam.

Monday Blues

Today was a very slow Monday in the office. Everybody was kind of in black mood. No greetings, no laughing and no smiling.  Is it because of Monday everybody in this mood? Hmmm…. very unusual because even though Monday, there will be always someone who in the cheerful mood.

But not today. At first I thought it was due to early Monday morning but as the day progressed, the office was still quiet. Only one or two persons were active. By the time lunch hour, most of them just ‘tapau’ the food from the food stalls at the basement.

As for myself and my BFF, instead of tapau, we had our lunch there. The place was packed as usual but we managed to get a place for us. I had my nasi kukus ayam goreng berempah and Teh-‘O’ iced while my BFF had Fried Mee Hoon and Teh-tarik. Hmmm..the fried mee hoon didn’t look good at all and she didn’t finished it.

As the day progress, the situation still didn’t change. Everybody was still not in a good moody except for a few. It was kind of weird that I didn’t hear any laughters or jokes throughout the days. Instead what I heard was angry words and angry conversation.

This negative feeling was seeping into everybody and by the time 6pm, people were already ready to go. Those I met in the lift have one common thing to say, “I’m tired.”

Hey folks it is only Monday and we have another four more days to go through this week. Can we change the negative feeling to positive feeling? Let’s be happier so that we won’t feel the tension and the stress. Can we?

Okay, I hope the positive energy will replace the negative energy and let’s pray the place will be lively from tomorrow onwards…salam.

My Love Affairs with Cars

I saw a VW Scirrocco zooming past me this morning and I envy the driver. Well, I have been eyeing that baby but what can I say, it is too expensive for me. Maybe one day, hope not too long, I can own the baby.

Well, I'm not into fast cars but the first time I saw Scirrocco, wow I fell in love with the baby. It such a sexy looking baby. Heh, for now I have to make do with my current VW Golf. It still serves the purpose.

I have been driving for the past 20 plus years and the first time I drive was in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It was a totally new experience especially when driving in US. Everything is opposite. Left hand drive car, and the road system is also opposite of our road system in Malaysia. The first car that I bought was Dodge Omni and not bad, it served its purpose - to take me to campus and the surrounding area.

The next car, that I owned was a few months after I moved to KL. I need a car badly to go to work because there was no direct public transport from my house to my office in Taman Tun. So, I asked my late father, to look for a used car and told him that I wanted a Mazda Familia. He found one but the engine was not in good condition and after discussing with him, I settled for Ford Escort. Wow! That car was good and I used it for almost five years before I replaced it with Renault 19. By this time, I'm already married and with one kid.

This baby, Renault 19 and not my son, can really fly. I was sent to work in Malacca for a short period. My family was separated at three different states. My hubby was in KL, my son with my parents in Seremban and I was in Malacca. Since the distance from Seremban to Malacca not that far, I commuted from Seremban to Malacca almost every day even though I was given an apartment. Thanks to the car, I zoomed down the highway averaging, ahem 130-140km and reached the office by 8.30am.

I loved the car but as it start getting older, the engine start to give me problem and oh boy!, it was costly to keep this baby. So I decided to change my Renault 19 to Toyota Corolla. This car is still with us and it will be celebrating its 11 years with us this June. My hubby loves it very much even though I asked him to change to another car.

In 2003, I bought our second car, Hyundai Matrix. We need the second car because my hubby is travelling south whereas I have to travel towards KL. I missed the time where we were driving to work together. We can discussed a lot of thing during that short period. This car also served its purpose as a family car.

When I was pregnant with my fourth kids, I told hubby, we need to get a bigger car, the MPV. So after scouting around we found the right car, Mitsubishi Grandis, which can carry eight people. We traded our faithful Matrix and bought the elegant and classy Grandis. This car, officially becomes our family car until today.

In Dec 2006, when I came back from Jakarta, after being assigned there for 8 months, I decided to buy a small car. I reasoned out with hubby that it is not practical to drive a big car, when (a) I'm the only person in the car, (b) the car is petrol guzzler and (c) it is very challenging to park the car when the parking is almost full. My definition of small car was to get Kelisa or MyVi but my dear hubby has different definition. He took me to view Suzuki and VW Golf. Of course, when he brought me to see VW Golf, I told him I want that car and since he is paying, why not. I didn't feel guilty at all and this baby can fly. This baby has been with me for three years and I still haven't get tired of it. I love it very much.

Okay, enough of my rambling on my passion with cars. I hope one day that Scirocco will be mine and my hubby will changed his car to a bigger Toyota? Insyallah...Salam.

Now I know you better!

Today, I attended the ISD teambuilding after missing it yesterday. I missed it yesterday because I was feeling dizzy and nausea the whole day. I'm not sure what happened but doctor diagnosed it as due to gas but I know better than that because I don't feel it that way. What happened was that on Wednesday night, I took 2 pills of pain killer and not used to it, I was totally knocked off and zonked out the whole day yesterday. The dizzy and nausea feeling was still there today until 3pm.

Since the program was done in Marriot Putrajaya, the trip is expected to be only 15min but due to heavy rain this morning and my dizziness, I missed the exit and it took me 30mins to reach Marriot Putrajaya. When I reached there, the parking was almost full and I was asked to park in the next building but luckily there was a connecting passageway to the hotel.

Upon reaching the hotel, I went to the Terrace Cafe and joined the team for breakfast. It was touching to see so many people asked me how I feel today and some of them asked me to lie in the room instead of joining the session. CIO also asked me the same question.

Since I missed yesterday session, I have to join the table that has less team members and guess which table have empty seats. The CIO table but I sat accross her and not next to her. I was told that the previous night was very interesting where everyone need to listed out about his/her character and behavior and listen to others feedback about you. So it kind of making everyone know each other better.

The second day session started with video clip on "Who moved my cheese". I have read the book few years back but never really get the chance to discuss it. So this session allows us to discuss on issue at work and how we want to move forward. During discussion, a lot of analogies were used to relate the issues but nothing much can be done as it requires some bold decision from top management on how we want to resolve the issues. Also when the video was shown, it reminds me about Victoria Dahl's mouse which was sick but according to her, the mouse is getting better.

Before lunch, we were asked to identify the level of our interaction with all the departments and we have to identify the positive and negative attribute of each department. After lunch, being away yesterday and most senior team member, I was bullied to present our department points. As usual, every group find out they need to interact with us more because of contract issues and budget. One of the negative points that all departement listed was NO DEPARTMENT HEAD. It is a smack not to us but to CIO as this has been vacant for 14 months and still not fill up.

At the end of the session, we need to work on the improvement plans that we can execute and most of the plans that we need to work are on processes and its turnaround time. But then we may be able to provide the processes but our Partner needs to agree on it. Let see whether this can be deliver.

Overall it is a good session for 30 of us to be away from office and enjoy this session. ISD has been known to be a close knit family and these two days really show us how we trust each other and help each other whether it is work related or personal. Since ISD stands for Integrated Strong Dynamic, we really live to our motto. Yes, ISD!
