Zara and her Hari Raya gathering

Zara had a Hari Raya gathering at her school today. She had been looking forward for this since the teacher told her last week. When she got the letter on Monday, she called me and asked her brother to read the letter to me.

And when I reached home on Monday night, she was waiting for me with the letter. The moment, I sat down she showed me the letter, and asked me to read it there and then. She was very excited about the gathering.

She already planned what she wanted to bring and wear. Last night, before she went to bed, she told me that she wanted to bring nugget. “Nugget?” I said as I planned to pack curry puff for her, and she nodded. I try to convince her to bring curry puff, but she refused to budge.

So this morning, I fulfilled her wish. I fried the nuggets for her, and while I was frying it, she came down. Wow! I was surprised because it would normally be difficult to get her up for school. Usually there will be lots of drama.

She also told me that she wanted to wear the new baju kurung. Her dad gave her the old baju kurung, and she refused to wear. Her argument is that teacher said everyone must wear the new baju kurung. She defied her dad, and went to her wardrobe, and took out the new baju kurung. Her dad just shook his head.

Don’t you ever wonder that our kids listen more to the teacher than us? Every single word that came out from the teacher’s mouth sound like a law. If I said the teacher was wrong, she would defend the teacher. That’s how loyal she is to the teacher. It is not only her, but the rest of my kids too.   That’s why, teachers have to be careful what they said and do.

When I came home tonight, she updated me on the gathering. She was happy because her nuggets were very popular among the kids. She further said it was fun, and there's a lot of activities.

Haha…I bet school would not be fun anymore next week, and the drama would definitely continue, again tomorrow morning.

Eid-ul-Fitri and balik kampung

One more week and then we will be celebrating Eid-ul-Fitri. It’s going to be a long leave for most of the people. With school close for a week and three major public holidays on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, most people will take the opportunity to go for a holiday.

But not this girl. I would not be taking any leave. I would still be working on Monday, the Raya’s eve and Friday. It is not that I cannot take any leave, it just that I am reserving my leave for my up coming trips. Furthermore, Syafiq would be sitting for his trial exam once school back in session.

Most of the people would start making the trip back to kampong on Saturday, and by Monday, KL would be quiet. I won’t be joining the Balik Kampung rush. Let those whose kampung far in the south or north or east to travel first. I would only go back on the morning of Raya after the prayer.

My mom house is only a short distance from my house. It is only 30 minutes drive from Bangi, but that 30 minutes can turn to one hour plus on Raya morning. But I do have three options to reach Seremban.

First option is using the Seremban-KL Highway where those who are heading down south would use this highway too, or we can take LEKAS highway. This would definitely be our choice as those who use this Highway are mainly those heading down to Kuala Pilah and the areas nearby to Kuala Pilah.

Final option is just used the old KL- Seremban road where along the way, we could see other kampung and the people wearing colorful, brand new baju melayu and kurung. Ah, I seldom that this route because this is also the slowest route among the three.

Whatever option that I am going to take my objective is to reach home safely. We the Ops SIKAP starting today, I hope we can reduce the number of accidents and reach our destination safely. Happy travelling folks!

New Clothes and Eid Mubarak

Today is 15th Ramadhan. It means that we have fasted for 15 days and another 15 days to go before Eid Mubarak. As usual, I will always do my shopping last minutes and most of the time, I would not get what I want.

Last Sunday, I went to Kamdar to buy clothes for my baju kurung. This year I decided to buy extra because I don't have any new baju kurung that I can wear to office. So for 4 pairs of baju kurung, which include 1 for my litte girl, it only cost me less than RM200. I was happy with my purchased.

But when I brought it to my tailor, I had a shocked. For 3 pairs of adult baju kurung and one pair for kids, she charged me RM500. I knew she will charge me extra but I didn't expect that much. I guess these people really make money during festive seasons.

I haven't finish shopping yet. I haven't buy my three sons baju melayu and I guess it will another RM200-RM300. At least they need another pair of clothes each and I can bet that will easily cost me another RM500.00.

I have to say everytime Raya come, we easily will spent between RM1000-RM2000 for clothes, cookies and duit raya. So how much money did you allocate for any major festival. Share with me,
