Much Need Break and Heartbreak!

I was admitted for four days in hospital two weeks ago due to some infection. I don’t know what infected me as there are no cuts or bites on my leg. It happened on Thursday night.

I was down with high fever, and I slept for 24 hours. When I woke up, my shin was red. When I touched it, it was warm. Not only it red and warm, it also quite painful when I touched it.

I went to Hospital An-Nur, and the doctor said it was an infection. She told me that if the infection still persists after 2 days, I need to go to another hospital as I might need to be warded.

She gave me some antibiotic. It’s quite a strong one and some anti-inflammatory pill. On Saturday, a day after I went to see the doctor, I have an earache. First my left ear, than my right and it continue for the whole day. On Sunday, it stopped, but I have a mild headache.

On Monday morning, it attacked my bladder. I had a urine infection, and I told my hubby that we had to go to hospital for further checked up.

We went to Ampang Putri Specialist, and when the doctor saw my leg, the first thing that came out from her mouth was that I need to be admitted. I said okay as this was what the previous doctor said.

So they sent me to one of the beds in the emergency room. As usual, my hand was poked with needles. They took my blood and my urine for testing. They also did an ultra sound to my leg as the suspected that I might have Deep Vein Thrombosis, but the radiologist cleared me. I was relieved.

The specialist doctor came to visit me in my room, and after ruling out the DVT, he instructed the nurse to give me the antibiotics. The nurse injected the antibiotic through my hand. Wow! It was very painful. I felt like kicking the nurse, but she’s only carrying out her duty.

Later in the evening, they gave me another type of antibiotic. I forgot the name, but it was through the drips. Halfway through, my hand becomes itchy and swollen. Damn! I’m allergic to the antibiotic.

The nurse quickly called the doctor, and I was given another shot to reduce the itchiness. By this time, my family members were there. I was happy there were there to keep me company. My brother brought goreng pisang while my youngest sisters brought donut.

They kept me company until 9pm, and by the time they left, I was very sleepy. Thanks to the jab they gave earlier.

On the second day, the red color has reduced, and I thought I could go home, but on Tuesday afternoon, my blood pressure went up. I never have any high BP before, and I'm worried. The BP went back to normal the next day, but then I had mega headache.

The doctor decided to keep me one more day for observation. The whole day I was down with headache, and on Thursday, I was discharged, but I still have the headache. It was a mild headache. The doctor gave me one week MC, and I have to comeback to see him again in one week.

My husband came around 3pm to fetch me, and instead of heading back home, we went to Putrajaya Hospital to visit my father-in-law. He was in the ICU for heart problem. He had been hospitalized on the day I was downed with high fever.

I spoke to him, and he told me that the doctor wanted to refer him to IJN. He said he wanted to come back and see his grandchildren first before going to IJB. I told him to follow the doctor advice.

On Monday afternoon, as I was waiting for my husband to go to Putrajaya to visit him as he was in critical condition, I received a called from my mother-in-law. My father in law has returned to his maker.

My father-in-law was a very nice man. I never have any problem with him, and he was very attached to my little girl Zara. Whatever my girl wants, he would try to get it. He would always kiss my little girl before he went to bed, and whenever he went back to Seremban to his house, he would call and ask for my little girl.

During his hospitalization, he really wanted to see my little girl, but he didn’t get to see. I feel sad whenever I think about it.

He was buried at the same place where my day was buried a year ago, in Tanah Perkuburan Hj Said. Their graves are not far from each other too. Rest in Peace, ya abah.

Ya Allah, aku berdoa agar roh kedua-dua bapa ku, Haji Abdul Rahman dan Haji Baharun, di tempatkan bersama-sama orang-orang solihin. Amin!

Oh! I'm in pain....

I’m on medical leave today. I hurt my backs two weeks ago when I fell down at Ikea.  For two weeks, I was okay until yesterday in the office when I felt slight twitched on my back.

I thought it would go away, but it didn't. The pain had gotten worse last night. I couldn’t move or turn. Every move I made, it hurts. The whole night I didn’t sleep. I guess my husband didn’t either because I made a lot of noise.

And today, I had to walk very slow. It was the slowest walk I ever had because every step I took was very painful. My hubby took me to the Emergency Room at Hospital An-Nur, and the doctor referred me to my Orthopedic Surgeon in Ampang Putri. He gave me painkiller to reduce the pain, but it was not enough as I still felt pain every time I made slight move.

I thought I could use my ING at Ampang Putri, but ING declined saying that Hospital An-Nur is not their panel. I need to go to my normal GP to get my referral letter.

I was stumped. I didn’t go there for fun. I was in great pain, and I need to see a doctor immediately. Since I was in pain, I didn’t want to make any fuss. I just want to see the doctor and get my treatment. I told the receptionist that I would pay myself. However, I would not stop pursuing this with ING, as the cost of the treatment was more than 3 digits.

When I went in to see my doctor, the first questions he asked me, where was the  pain and do I felt any numbness along my leg. I said no numbness just pain. After more than 30 minutes of discussion and lectures, he gave me a bunch of medicines, and one of it, would have caused me nausea, dizziness and drowsiness.

“A-ha,” I said. “Now I know why the last time I felt dizzy every time I took my medicine.

“Yes, it would do that to you, but for only three to four days. So please, don’t stop.”

Ughh!! I hate to take medicines, and the doctor said two of those medicines, I need to take it like, forever. Ahh!!! It reminds me of my dad and mom and their medicines’ boxes.

Oh yea! On the brighter side, I was given four days of MC...Yeah!!!

Oh! Sakitnya...

Alhamdulillah! Zaki circumcision went well. He cried for a while after he came out from the Operation Theater. Maybe because he was still drowsy and confused, or he was in pain.

Let’s see how the day begin. We have to be at the hospital by 8am for admission. Therefore, we have to leave the house latest by 7am. We also have to send  b my in-laws to my sister in law house in Kajang because my sister-in-law and her youngest daughter were going for Umrah today.

My husband’s plan was only me, Zaki and him to go to Ampang Putri Specialist Hospital, but the kids have a different plan. Zaki insisted that Amir to come along, or else he would not go to the hospital. When Amir goes, it means Zara will also go. When Zara goes, Syafiq needs to come along and looks after her because my husband has to leave by 9.45am to go and send her sister to airport. So everybody went to the hospital to cheer Zaki.

During the trip to the Ampang Putri, Zaki was very quiet. He was not his usual self. He also didn’t play his PSP like usual. When we reached there, I could see that he was worried. He didn’t know what to expect as the stories and experiences shared by Amir and Syafiq were conflicting.

After the registration, we went to the ward. The nurses were good. They engaged him in conversation and finally, he forgot about his worries. After they had taken all his details, I helped him to change to the hospital gown.

The nurse asked who would be accompanied him to go inside. I said my hubby. Zaki wanted me to go with him, but I told him that I would wait for him when he came out.

At 9.20am, the nurse called him in. He kissed me, and my husband took his hand and walked to inside. I prayed that he would not cause any problem and chicken out. Ten minutes later, my husband came out and said that he already knocked out.

At 10.15am, the nurse came and told me that it was done, and Zaki's in the recovery room. I followed her, and I saw Zaki was restless and started to cry. He also tried to get up. The nurses and the doctor had to hold him down.

When I reached there, he was yelling, “Sakit! Sakit (Painful).” I looked at the nurse, and she said she had given him medicine. It took me a while to calm him down. When he was okay, we pushed him back to the ward.

He still cried when he was in the ward, and when I asked him whether he wanted Amir and Zara to come in, he nodded. When Syafiq, Amir, and Zara came in, he looked a little bit happy. I also showed them the skin that was cut off.  He kept asking for it, and holding it, as if, part of him was missing.

At 12pm, he said he was hungry. He hasn’t eaten since 10pm the previous night. The nurse gave him warm water first to make sure that he would not vomit. He didn't vomit, and after waiting for half and hour, I got him sandwiches and Milo. He finished the sandwiches and wanted more.

My husband reached the hospital at 1pm from the airport. The other three went out with him to have lunch at McDonald while I helped Zaki to change into his t-shirt and sarong. When my hubby came, he bought us Mc Donald for lunch. Zaki finished his while I didn’t finish mine because of my sore throat. I can’t swallowed anything without feeling pain.
I thought when he reached home he would just lie down on the sofa, but he didn’t. He went up and down the staircase, holding his sarong and walking slowly. When I asked him whether he felt any pain, his replied, “Sikit aja (a lit bit only).”

I am worried how he is going to sleep tonight knowingly that he likes to sleep on his stomach. He will be sleeping in Syafiq’s room tonight, and I definitely will have a sleepless night.

Oh yea! He wanted Wii as his present to go through the pain. No more RM10 that he wanted earlier. It must be his older brothers’ idea. Will he get the Wii? I don’t know. The father has to pay for that, but I overheard that he promised Zaki next week. Let’s wait and see!

Sekian. Salam.
