Food! Food! Food! Eat! Eat! Eat!

Lemang

It's raya, and what does it mean? Eat, eat and lots of eating. As Syafiq said, it's the beginning of putting on weight after a month of fasting. Huh! It does have some truth to it.

Let’s see how my eating spree today. It started with breakfast at my place at 7.30am. What did i have? Hmmm… Lemang, nasi himpit, kuah kacang, rendang and two small pieces of cake. That cake was a special cake. The cake came all the way from Bandung, Indonesia from the famous Kartika Sari outlet.

The next stop was at my neighbour’s house, which was four doors away. Today was the first time I went inside in her house. I always wonder how it looks like inside because it’s very nice from outside, but today, when I stepped in, whoa, it was so nice and cozy. What did they serve? Pulut kuning, nasi himpit, rending and sambal udang. I only had a little bit of pulut kuning or sticky rice.

From her house, we went to the other neighbour's house. The house is at the end of the road. They served nasi bariyani, rendang and some other dishes. I just ate a little bit of the beriyani rice. The food was nice.

I took two hours break before my next stop. It was at my mom's house, and again we have rice. This time nasi tomato (tomatoes rice) and chicken masak merah, sup tulang, ketupat, rendang and other dishes. The first thing that I eat was the sup tulang. Its my favorite, and I always look forward to eat it every raya. Since it was at my house, I munched on other foods like kuih gunting, kuih ros and some other biscuits.

At 6pm, we headed to our last stop of the day, and it was my along’s house. She served soto ayam, sup tulang, rendang, ketupat and few other foods. First round, I had soto ayam and pegadil. Ohhh…. I love pegadil. Besides soto, I also eat ketupat, but I didn't finished it as it the peanut sauce was a little bit hot for my liking.

Four houses in a day, and that sum up my day of eating activities. Tomorrow will be another day, and we will be heading to our relatives' houses in Kuala Pilah. More foods will be served. I guess next week, when I'm back to work, I have to start on my diet again. For now, let's eat!!!!!!!

New Hunting Ground - Islamic Kitchen

I found a new restaurant yesterday. Actually the restaurant was not new. It was there for quite some time, but every time we go to that area, we would either eat at JM Beriyani, Chan Abdullah or Italees.

But yesterday, after our training in Sg Jelok, I told hubby I wanted to take something sweet. Yeah! I have a sweet tooth.

“Teh Tarik or Coffee would be nice and, please no Kopitiam this time” I told him.

He then drove to Seksyen 9, and as we passed by few restaurants there, we decided to try the Islamic Kitchen. The one that attracted us was the word pastries.

“Aaaa! They have pastries,” said hubby.

So we went in, but there were not so many people. Maybe it was almost 5pm, and people were getting ready to go home. As usual, wherever I go, I will observe the surrounding. And the different between this restaurant and other, the workers are all guys. Young guys around early twenties.

And the food there, hmmm….they have varieties of food. Western, Mexican, Italians, Asian and Malaysian food.

‘Not bad,” said hubby.

I then ordered ‘teh tarik’ and French toast without honey, and chili sauce. My hubby ordered ‘Cucur Bilis’ and ‘air mata kucing’ for his drink.

They sent the cucur bilis first and sambal, and to our surprise it was hot. They fry the cucur whenever some one order it. At some other places, they would have the 'cucur' pre-cooked, and heat it up in the microwave oven.

Since there were only four small pieces, we ordered another plate, and when my French toast came, it was hot too. The 'teh tarik' was so good that I wanted to order another one, but I didn't. Heaven!

And tonight, we decided to take the kids to the place. Huh! At first, Zara didn’t want to eat there, but changed her mind after we promised her ice-cream.

I wanted to eat Soto Ayam, but then changed my mind when I saw their beef burger. When I ordered beef burger, the rest also decided to have burgers.

Again, we were not disappointed with the foods. The kids mini burger was good and so was ours. The kids love their burgers. Definitely, this will be our next favorite restaurant.

Not only the food is good, the price is also reasonable. For 2 beef burgers, 4 mini burgers, 3 Milo Ice, 1 Teh ‘O’ Ice, 2 mineral waters and 4 icecreams (2 scoops each), the price was only RM83.00.

Apa lagi..cubalah….

Happy Birthday Boss!

Yesterday was my boss, EG, birthday. Since he is alone here, me and my friend, S, decided to take him out for lunch today. We went to Kelantan Delights at Sooka Sentral. It just a short walk from my office to Sooka. S and Boss went first, and I joined them later as I have something to finish.

When I reached there, I thought they have ordered the food, but they were busy talking and still deciding what to order. It was easy for me because I already decided what to eat. Nasi Dagang with fish and coconut for drink. S order Soto Ayam and soya for her drink.

Since my boss is allergic to seafood, we have to check with the waiter what are the food that do not have any seafood. I don’t want anything happened to him, especially he is alone here. We finally decided to order Mee Ladna for him, and he order lime juice for his drink. For the appetizer, we ordered Keropok Ikan and Keropok Lekor (Fish crackers).

While waiting for our food, we ate the keropok first and ate it with chile sauce. Hmmm...Very nice but we didn’t finish the keropok.

We talked about foods in general, and his comment was that we Malaysian like to think about food. Heh! I have to agree on that, and furthermore we are the nation that greets others with ‘Hey! Dah makan? (Have you eaten?).

He also said that foods are much cheaper here than in England. It’s true, but few years ago, it was much cheaper. Now the food prices here have increased. If the price is not increased, the food portion is reduced. Which ever way, the food sellers, won.

I felt the introduction to Malay food was not complete if he didn't drink the 'Teh Tarik'. I wanted to order for him, but he said he was already full. We told him that ‘Teh Tarik’ is very nice, and he should try it before he goes back to England. He said he would give it a try.

Oh ya! We also plan to take him to eat at the Banana Leaf Restaurant. If you are not familiar with the term, it is actually the way the food is served. Instead of using plate, the rice will be served on the banana leaf with veggies, meats and papadom, and you use your hand to eat instead of fork and spoon. It will be interesting.

Okay..Chao dulu...Salam.
