Paroxysm of Reminisce

Ever heard of this song before? Paroxysm of Reminisce. Huh! Can’t pronounce it? Haha....garbled it up? Whatever it is, this is my latest go to song when I need something to pump me up. What? An old lady listening to this kind of song? Hey!… I’m might be old, but I always feel young at heart.

When I first heard this song, my first reaction was “WOW," and seriously I like this song since the first time I heard it. This song has been featured in my playlist since they released it few weeks back.

Well… This song is by a bunch of guys that some of them, I know them personally. They are my son’s friends and, in fact, my son has some touch to the song too. A little tiny little bit of melody in there. Huh! Frankly I don’t know whether he has any contribution to the song, but for the past one week, they have been to my house practicing/recording some songs. Hmm…By the way, these guys called themselves ASADBand or As Simple As Death Band. Scary name  kan???

What make me so into this song. Well, whenever I listened to this song it reminds me the time of me and my brother and my sister imitating ourselves to be rock stars. We used to listen to Deep Purple, Led Zepplin, Uriah Heep and many other bands that I kind of forgot them. It was a joy for us at that time when the three of us will sit at the living room and have the LP record on at night. At that time, there was no CD or MP3 or iPod. Just the old vinyl record. Me always pretend to be Lee Karslake, the drummer, my sister guitarist and singer with my brother the lead guitar. Huh… What a memory it was!

Two days ago, I posted this song on my FB and tagged my sister. My sister commented, ‘Nice… ala-ala Iron Maiden.’ (just like Iron Maiden). That is a compliment from a person who listened mainly to rock and heavy metals.

Does this song has anyone else listening to it in this house. You bet! My three other kids love this song too. The have this song in their youtube playlist too. Ibu doesn’t have to influence them to listen to this song. They will search for it themselves.

I hope ASADBand will continue to produce good songs. And meantime, why don’t you hit the play button and enjoy the song

Do you like it? And here is their first song, Your Rise, that they released it before Paroxysm of Reminisce.

Mother in the Dream

This afternoon, I saw a youtube link on my facebook wall. The video was on 12 years old Mongolian boy, who sang ‘Mother in the Dream’ in the China's Got Talent. The link was shared by my friend, and I was glad that I watched it.

As I was watching it, even though I didn’t know a single word that was said between the judges and him, or the meaning of the song, I cried. He rendered it beautifully and full of emotion, and he delivered it deep from his heart. If you watch the video, look at his expression.

Oh! His singing touched every audience and judge too. You can see some of the women cried. after finished watching it, I shared the link through my Facebook, and commented that I wished someone can translate what was said between him and the judges, and the lyrics.

My friend then posted the write up below.

A 12-year-old Mongolian boy- Uudam (乌达木 Wudamu in Chinese) who lost his parents at the age of 8 in a road accident singing the song-"Mother in the Dream" (梦中的额吉) to his mother at heaven. He seldom talk about his story, but when he missed his mother, he would sing this song. Besides, he always dream about his mother, sitting beside him.

The song is in Mongolian; therefore, not everyone can understand the lyrics. However, his singing touched every judge and audience in the hall, eventhough not everyone understand the lyrics. He sang out all his love and though to his mother.

A touching song, performed by a boy who got a sad story behind, a voice comes from far Mongolia sending his though to his mother at heaven. A great performance by a 12-year-old boy! He got an interesting and beautiful dream which is to invent a kind of ink that just need a drop to drop on the ground; the whole world will cover with green grass. One more thing to add, his mother wished to see his singing on the stage when she was alive.

I wish him all the success in his talent show and may he fulfill his mother’s wished, and thanks to ricchthefallenangel who upload the video.

Translation:
In my heart is reappearing the mother in the pray
She offers the milk to the God for me
She also looks at her distant son
My distant place mother, you are the belief which I love

With holy flower dew ~
to make the tea lets you enjoy first
I have found the serene look in her eye

Mama , please come quickly!
Your son awakens from the dream!

I’m riding silver bird in the dream, ~
Flying in the horizon.
Dreamed of you to arrive at ~
The auspicious omen and happiness …..

Mama to wait for me …. Your son is coming

New Boss, Old Boss and A Song

Aaahhhh…. My new boss is in. Finally, after more than two years without a proper head guiding the team, he is finally in. Yeay! I heard few positive things about him already. Good looking, soft spoken, nice and bla..bla..bla… Well at least he made a positive impression but not sure how long he is going to be here. The last time they brought somebody in, the guy left after two days.

So now I have two bosses. It feels like having two husbands, where you have to entertain them, and get things done whenever they wanted. Since the new boss is still new, it is just like new husband where he has lots of new things to learn. So he only sat at his place, and read all documents and gauging the office environment. So far, he hasn’t asked anything from me yet, and I also avoided asking him anything.

Normally my old boss will speak in English to me, but today he spoke to me in Malay. Maybe he didn’t want the newcomer to know what we talked about since the new boss doesn’t understand our language. I found it funny, but it’s good for him. At least he will improve his Malay.

As I was busy printing the document for my new boss, my department secretary approached me and asked me whether I can find any good English song for the CFO farewell party.

Hmmm.. I have lots of English song but most of them are rock songs, country and blues, and oldies. It really makes me think what kind of music will be appropriate for the event.

I started searching and looking at my collection. Hah! I thought Boney M will be a good choice but then none of the songs suit the occasion. From Boney M, I went through Celien Dion’s song, and then to Black Eye Pea, but the one I like most is, I’ll be missing you by Puff Daddy. But the lyric doesn’t suit the whole occasion.

Hmm…I am still searching, and I need to get everything ready by tomorrow because the party will be on Friday night. I wonder whether we will butcher the song with only 3 days of practice. Let’s see the magic of ISD.

Sekian. Salam.

To all mothers out there...

My kids like to sing this song, ‘IBU’ or mother to me. Sometimes when they saw me sitting on the sofa looking tired, they will come and sit next to me singing the song. Normally it will be Zara and Zaki but occasionally Amir will join them.

Every time they sing the song, mostly half way only, it will make me smile and all the tiredness and problem will disappear.

The song also reminds me of my first time singing karaoke. I was with my previous company and we were having an off-site meeting in Port Dickson. After a long day of meeting and brain storming, the big boss said, “Okay we will have Karaoke tonight. Everybody have to sing.

I tried to avoid going to the karaoke but I can’t as my team was waiting for me. Everybody selected their songs except a few who were like me. After sometimes, my boss said, “Zai, have you selected your song?”  I just shook my head and he said,” Do you want me to select for you?”  “No, thank you. I’ll choose myself,” I said.

After flipping through the list, I decided to sing IBU together with two more ladies. The three of us are all mothers. Huh! I never sing in public before. It was disaster. Our voices were very soft and one by one the guys joined us. By the time we finished singing, the whole group sang with us.

Okay here it is. Enjoy the song.

When Hujan reminds me of someone..

Whenever I heard this song ‘Hujan’ by the late Sudirman Arshad, it reminds me of my time in college. I was staying up late studying and it was raining when the DJ played the song.

Look at the lyrics below. Yup it is a song above love and rains, a song that reminds me of my old college boyfriend. Well we are not fated to be together and I wonder where he is now.

HUJAN

Hujan yang turun bagaikan mutiara
Berkilau bersinar berkerdipan
Subur menghijau bumi terbentang
Dan bayu berpuput lembut

Cinta yang bersemi
Diwaktu hujan turun
Menyirami ketandusan hati
Dan hujan turut mengiringi
Engkau pergi...

Selembut hujan bercurahan
Begitulah cinta ini
Semesra bumi yang disirami
Begitulah hati ini

Hujan yang turun bersama air mata
Bersama pedih, bersama rindu
Kau datang dan kau pergi jua
Rindu lagi...

Okay, hope you enjoy the song.

When I'm not in the mood...

I seldom listen to Malay songs but when I do, it is normally an oldies. It helps to bring back good old memories especially when I'm not in the mood. Since past few days I been having this feeling, the song 'Sekuntum Mawar Merah Sebuah Puisi'  by Alleycats really helps to lift up my mood.

This above video is by Hattan but the one below (Audio) by the original group - Alleycats is my go to song. Enjoy the song!
