I feel free and lighter.

For the first time after so many years, I went to work without my backpack. Yes, I left it at home because my laptop is still in coma. My vendor is still waiting for me to give the go ahead to send it to third party to recover my data.

But my dear old boss has a different idea. He said, “Get them to come over here and you sit in-front of them when they recover the data.”

Wow! I wish I can do that, but I don’t think they can bring their equipment to my company just to extract my data. Until this is sorted out, my laptop will be separated from me. I’m sad to be separated from my dear lappy.

Mean while, I was given a temporary laptop, which is big and heavy. I felt like carrying brick behind me when I took it with me. Since I have back problem, the temporary heavy laptop has lost its privilege to be carried around. It is now locked in my drawer in the office.

When I left this morning, I felt weird, as if something is missing. I kept on checking my handbag. Even though I felt like something missing but I like it. I felt free. Nothing hanging around my back or my shoulder.

While my back is happy that I don’t have to carry laptop anymore, my handbag is complaining like hell. Why? Because my handbag now is full of things in there. If you drop anything in there, you might have to remove everything from the handbag.

Do you want to know what I have in there besides my phone and purse? Do you really want to know? Okay, nothing fancy like other women, but what I have in there are book, phone charger, my external drive, my thumb drive, my lipstick, lotion, compact powder, pen, my id tag, and some other stuff.

So I’m thinking to get a bigger bag so that I can put in my laptop too. Do I sound crazy? Nah…..

Sekian. Salam

I Feel Good

Woo Hoo!!! Yeay!!! That’s how I felt today. Happy! After months of waiting, finally Telekom installed my streamyx today. With the installation of streamyx, it means my wireless network is also up and no more fighting for the poor Maxis Broadband modem.

I have to thanks the technician who came to install the streamyx. He was very patient to answer my questions. I have to thank the Streamyx technical support lady who took my call when I have the connection problem tonight. Both were excellent, technically and also in the customer services.

I also have another happy news that I want to share with you. My mom is doing great after her operation. I went to see her this afternoon and she was already drinking, eating and also sitting on her own. Thank you, Allah for giving mom the strength to go through this.

Tonight, my youngest sister, Arda will be staying with mom in the ward. Thank you, Arda for volunteering to stay with mom tonight.

And to end this happy occasion, here is a song by James Brown – I Feel Good! Look at his footwork! WOW!

Enjoy…Salam.

Blessed or Purely Coincidence?

Yesterday, there was a lion dance at my office. I blogged about the lion dance yesterday but I'm not going to blog the same thing today but somehow it has some relations to it. The Chinese believe that the Lion Dance will bring in prosperity, good health and others good things but for me, it was fun to see how they danced to the drum beat.

But in the afternoon, after the dance, bad thing happened to me. As I was busy looking for parking space and talking to my friend, without realising that there was a Proton Exora behind me, I reversed my car into it. I was lucky because it only caused a little dented on both cars and no major hoo hah.

As I was about to sit down at the meeting room, I received a call from my hubby saying that our sofa is ready for delivery but we need to pay the balance. I asked him, "Can't we just issued cheque?" He said, "Nope. We have to bank in to their account." So after I got the account number, I found out that I can only transfer RM4K." Oooopppsss, we are in trouble," I said softly. Since I have the guy's number I called him and he said to pass the balance to the delivery guy. "Phew!!," I called my husband. "Good news as we can pay the balance with cash."

So the new sofa was delivered as per our orders but there was some glitch. When we ordered the sofa earlier, we also traded in our old sofa and the delivery guy has to take back the old sofa. Unfortunately, it was still in the old house, which is about 10km away from our new house. My husband has to negotiate with the sales person and finally they agreed to collect the old sofa from Saujana. Otherwise, we have to pay another RM600 to them. Oh second good news.

When I woke up this morning, I saw a tweet from my Brazilian friend saying that she has received the package that I sent to her before Christmas. It has been missing for almost two months and I was worried about it "Ahhh...good, Finally it reached Doris or @RanchodoSol," I said to myself. Third good news I received and the next one is the best thing to happen.

Normally every morning, I will have a battle with Zaki to get him to school and today while I was preparing breakfast , I heard him taking his shower and getting ready to school. Yup this is the best thing to happen because he has refused to go to school since three weeks ago. I just hope, he will go to school on Monday next week voluntarily.

The good news didn't stop there. As I was driving to work, I received another good news. A book that I have wanted to is finally available for me to buy it. Yes, this morning as I was driving to work, I received a tweet from Keri Steven, you can find more about her here, that her debut book Stone Kissed is available on Kobo. "Yes!!!," I said to myself. For your information, I have been waiting for this book to be available on KOBO since end of December. And the best thing was that I purchased it using the promotion code that KOBO sent to me on Thursday that entitled me for 20% discount.

As I was reading my mail and answering few queries, the mail boy came and told me, "Kak ada package untuk akak. Nanti saya bawak masuk." (There's a package for me and he will bring it to me). My response to that, "Oh!! Ya?" as normally we have to collect it from the mail room. And the package is the one I have been waiting for - the latest book by Susan Elizabeth Phillips' Call Me Irresistible. Wow another happy thing happened to me and for the rest of the day I feel very happy and good. I was also having fun teaching @JeffeKennedy some malay words today.

Is it because of the lion dance or just coincidence that all these goods thing happened to me today? I believe it is purely coincidence because I believe Allah knows best what in store for me...
Okay before I go, stay positive...Be Happy...Salam

BTW BSS, here the video clip of you and the lion

Cake anyone?

Today, I decided to bake cake for my kids. The last time I did that was three years ago and the result was not so good. I do have an excuse for that. My oven was broken and I was trying to bake using my microwave oven. Not bad. Still edible but I was not satisfied because it doesn't turned out to be what I want.

Now, I have new oven so it is about time that I try it. I planned to bake it last week but have to cancel my plan due to something. Since today has been raining since morning and I have nothing to do, I decided to bake the cake that I promised them. So when the boys went to their music class, I took the opportunity to bake it. Don't want too many assistance to assist me in the kitchen.  I only let Zara to assist me since she was at home.

What do we bake? We baked marble cake and this is Amir's favorite. I did it from scratch and I can say that it was such a success. By the time, the boys came back from the music class, the cake was already in the oven. They can smell it from the front door and their reaction, "Why don't you wait for me. I want to help." Huh! You can see all my boys love to help me cooking but I would rather do it myself. Much easier and less confusion and shouting.

While waiting for the cake to be ready, I cooked for lunch too. Just a simple lunch. Sambal ikan and kangkong goreng. The kids kept coming to the kitchen asking when will it be ready. They can't wait. The moment Zaki saw me taking out the cake from the oven, he shouted to the rest  but I told them to wait first. They were basically standing next to the cake until I cut it. I have to say the joy on their faces when they eat the cake will be one of the memories that will be etched forever in my head. It was such a joy to see them enjoying the cake.

I thought the cake will last for two days but by 5pm, it was finished. While I was taking a nap, Zara (with the help of her grandfather) has quietly eating the cake. So was my hubby and the boys. By the time, I went down, only 1/6 of the cake left and when I served it on the plate, its disappeared within 10 minutes. But I have no complaint.

Heehee, they have now asked me to bake cupcake this week. I haven't say yes yet but if I do, I bet it will finish within a day too. Let's see whether it will happen....Salam.
